Hear My Voice 2020 Poetry Competition

I'm working with Barnsley Museums, as part of my role as Poet Laureate, on the Hear My Voice 2020 Poetry Competition. Fun fact, the first year the competition ran was also the year I won the 12-18 category and made friends with a shiny Kindle Fire. That wasn't the whole point of it, but it was definitely a bonus.

We're particularly interested in the impact COVID-19 is having on those living in the Barnsley area. You can find out more about the competition itself here.

I know a lot of people struggle with writing poetry because it's intimidating, or because a lot of the resources out there for getting started are either high and mighty or downright patronising.

It's for that reason that I've put together some of the writing activities that I think are the cleanest and easiest to explain. There are only a few hanging around in my writing resources section as I write this but I'm looking forward to adding more in the coming months.

By the way, just to let you all know, my posts will be monthly from now on. I just wanted to get this out there ASAP. You can expect a post on the first Saturday of every month.
